One fine day a group friends wanted to cross Toronto’s busy Yonge and Dundas intersection from the North East to the South West corner.
John, an avid cyclist, got off his bike and walked it first South then West patiently waiting for a green light two times.
Paul, who was pushing his daughter in a stroller, used the city’s ramped pedestrian underpass while humming “Oh!Darling” without skipping a beat or ever having to check if any cars are coming.
George and Ringo used the city’s new “scramble” feature and proceeded diagonally South West while reminiscing about their latest trip to India. And of course, they also stopped to make small talk with a few strangers they bumped into along the way.
How magical… Or was it just a pipe dream?
Well, find out for yourself starting August 28, 2008.
Last day of the project. Three things left to complete:
1. Secure tops of lattice to frame with more cedar lumber (following the patio slope caused the frame to be skewed and opened a gap between lattice and frame.
2. Strengthen the middle area of the frames with split 2×4’s attached horizontally. Rather, then spacing the 2×4s evenly to create 3 smaller frames, I spaced them asymmetrically. I wanted to draw the eye below the sight line.
3. Attach slats. They are mainly decorative but could also be used to support vines that make it to the top of the screen in the future. And finally, in the mornings they will cast a funky shadow pattern.
